Abstract
A technique for the continuous body temperature measurement of diary cows was devised using a thermistor probe and strip chart recorder. The thermogenic response elicited by progesterone administration to spayed cows (11 trials) was found to be quite marked. More immediate temperature elevations occurred when progesterone was administered intraperitoneally than when given subcutaneously. The advantage of continuous temperature recording in comparison to single daily observations was demonstrated. Keywords
