Abstract
A projection operator which is capable of decoupling the elastic channel and all the rearranged open channels from the rest of the Hilbert space is derived for dissociative attachment in rearrangement electron collision with molecules. This then leads to an exact description of the process by a finite set of coupled equations. Specialization of this method to account for resonance dissociative attachment is also carried out. Keywords
