Abstract
Nephrectomized rats were found to have a 37.5% decrease in creatine production from injected guanidino-acetic acid-2 C14 . Normal rats were found to have a 30.1% decrease in creatine production from injected guanidinoacetic acid-2 C14 and a 44.8% decrease from glycine-2 Cl4 after loading with large amounts of creatinine by intraperitoneal injection. These data suggest that the elevation of the serum creatinine in uremia is capable of significant inhibition of creatine synthesis. Keywords
