Abstract
".. the hottest topic in software technology" it said in the call for papers of this event. Another fairly hot area, although in a different branch of the field of computer science is that of Computer Support for Cooperative Work. This paper attempts to give some directions for the development of a concept of persistent objects from the point of view of computer support for cooperative work. Based on a concrete design of an office system and the implementation of this system it is pointed out that several different kinds of persistent objects are needed, and that more research is necessary to clarify the notion of a persistent object. Keywords
