Abstract
To help assess the significance of liver cysts we have prospectively documented their prevalence and characteristics within a general population being referred for ultrasound. Simple hepatic cysts occur in 2.5% of the population, becoming increasingly common with age. They show a preference for women, the right lobe of the liver and are occasionally multiple. The differential diagnosis is discussed. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
