Abstract
γ-Fe2O3 particles which were partially converted to hematite were found to exhibit properties characteristic of an exchange interaction between ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic phases. Unidirectional torque was induced by the field cooling through Morin temperature, in the present system in the similar way as has been observed in a bulk specimen of reduced α-Fe2O3 by Iizuka and Iida. Unidirectional torque as well as rotational hystereses at high fields were also observed at room temperature on specimens which were partially transformed in the magnetic field. Keywords
