Idiopathic Osteo-Arthritis of the Hip

Abstract
Four hundred patients with idiopathic osteo-arthritis of the hip treated conservatively were reviewed. Two clinical and radiological patterns were described, and their causation discussed and related to the area of capsular contracture. The final position of the hip may be one of flexion, adduction, and external rotation deformity, or one of flexion, external rotation, and neutral or slight abduction deformity. This depends mainly upon the site of capsular contracture.
