Abstract
The fractional volume dependence of stopbands in piezoelectric periodical composite plates has been studied experimentally by exciting the band-edge resonances. The frequency and symmetry of such modes below the thickness resonance of the plate are successfully interpreted in terms of a theoretical model which provides approximate dispersion curves of the lowest Lamb waves propagating in the composite plate. Keywords
