Abstract
A recently proposed method of data analysis applicable to the study of polydisperse systems by photon correlation spectroscopy has been experimentally tested for random-coil polystyrene in cyclohexane. Using this method a useful average diffusion coefficient can be obtained. This allows, for the first time, a determination of the weight-average molecular weight of a polydisperse solute to be made using the Svedberg equation. Another parameter determined by this method provides a useful index of polydispersity. Keywords
