Abstract
Width of osteoid tissue was measured in a group of normal persons and in a group with osteoporosis. In normal persons, osteoid width increased to a maximum in the third decade and thereafter decreased with age. In osteoporotic persons, osteoid borders became wider with increasing age. The data suggest that normal persons and osteoporotic persons are different populations with respect to mineralization of new bone tissue. Keywords
