Assortative Mating between Boophilus Decoloratus and Boophilus Microplus (Acari: Ixodidae)

Abstract
Observation of mixed infestations of Boophilus decoloratus and B. microplus on cattle shows that assortative mating occurs. The result is a smaller number of hybrid matings than is expected from random mating. The finding has relevance to studies of species interactions and to attempts at genetic control.
