COAGULASE TYPES OF COAGULASE‐POSITIVE STAPHYLOCOCCI FROM BACTERIAL SKIN INFECTIONS

Abstract
Coagulase types of the strains of coagulase‐positive Staphylococci isolated from bacterial skin infections were determined by the simplified method for coagulase typing. The abilities to utilize mannitol and to produce lipase and the sensitivities to antibiotics were also examined. Relationships were obvious between the coagulase types and the other characters as well as the studied dermatoses. Coagulase typing is considered to be a suitable method for the classification of coagulase‐positive Staphylococci in studies of staphylococcal skin infections, because the procedure is relatively simple, all strains of coagulase‐positive Staphylococci were classifiable in this study, and the results were useful for understanding staphylococcal skin infections.
