Abstract
The effects of pantothenic acid, pyridoxine and thiamine deficiencies upon antibody production to influenza virus PR-8 have been investigated. Deficient rats were immunized with allantoic fluid infected with influenza virus PR-8 and resulting levels of serum antibody determined with a hemagglutination-inhibition procedure. Ad libitum-fed and inanition controls were used. High levels of serum antibody were attained in both types of controls. In contrast, antibody production was markedly impaired in pantothenic acid- and pyridoxine-deficient rats. A pronounced thiamine deficiency failed to affect antibody production. Keywords
