Abstract
This longitudinal study provides new evidence on household response to gasoline price increases from 1973 to 1979. Household members of a consumer panel exhibited adaptive behavior in miles driven and made adjustments in automobile inventories. Attitudes also showed adaptive tendencies. Classification of consumers into behavioral groups indicated potential for identifying behavior influences in different population segments. Keywords
