Abstract
The incoherent-scattering function, or Compton scattering factor, has been calculated for the neutral carbon atom with a Hartree-Fock wave function and with configuration-interaction wave functions containing up to 40 terms. Values obtained with the correlated wave functions differ from the Hartree-Fock value by as much as 22%.Keywords
