Abstract
This review deals with nomenclature, history, isolation and synthesis, physical and chemical properties, distribution among mammalian tissues, and among the vertebrate and invertebrate phyla, estimation, identification, the metabolism of guanidines, enzymatic hydrolysis, functions and alternative synthetic pathways, relation to biochemical evolution.Keywords
