Abstract
Laboratory bioassays were conducted using an 86.9% technical and an encapsulated 7% dry premix formulation of methoprene (Altosid®). The formulations were added to chicken feed to control Musca domestica L. breeding in chicken manure. A rate of 50 ppm (AI in feed) for the technical formulation resulted in good inhibition of house fly emergence (≤ 4%) after the chickens were fed treated feed for 3 days. A rate of 5.0 ppm (AI in feed) for the encapsulated formulation resulted in good inhibition of house fly emergence (≤ 7%) after the chickens were fed treated feed for 8 days. Keywords
