Determination of Isopycnal Diffusivity in the Sargasso Sea

Abstract

Using observed space and time derivatives of the distribution of ³He, tritium and tritium–helium age in the Sargasso Sea, and the tritium–helium age equation, the isopycnal eddy diffusivity is estimated to be 1840 ± SW 440 m²s⁻¹ within the main thermocline.
