The Application of High-Speed Computers in Irrigation Research

Abstract
An IBM–650 program has been developed for the basic purpose of evaluating and comparing Thornthwaite and Penman potential evapotranspiration values and various methods for soil-moisture accounting. To the extent that the existing potential evapotranspiration formulas and soil-moisture accounting procedures are acceptable, the IBM–650 program supplies basic data for drought probabilities or irrigation-water probability studies.
