Abstract
Two statistical models for the radial distribution function are proposed. In terms of these models, analytical expressions for the radiation efficiency factors of random homogeneous systems are derived. The Planck and Rosseland mean absorption coefficients are evaluated and the ratio of dependent over independent mean absorption coefficients is given. The role of the far-field and the near-field effects on radiation is investigated. The near-field effect on the scattered radiation is found to be negligible compared to the far-field effect. The effect of particle interaction is demonstrated by a simple transport problem. Keywords
