Abstract
During the summer of 1959, dairy barns and loafing pens were sprayed with 0.5% and 1% dimethoate (0,0, dimethyl S-N- methylcarbamoylmethyl) phosphorodithioate) in water emulsion. The sprays gave excellent control of the horn fly (Haematobia irritans (L.)) and the house fly (Muscadomestica (L.)), their residual effect lasting from 5 to 9 weeks. The stable fly (Stomoxys calcitrans (L.)) appeared in the barns for a brief period during which it was effectively checked by the sprays. Analysis of milk samples collected during June, July, August, and September showed no detectable amounts of dimethoate residues. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
