Abstract
A novel depressed-core-index photonic bandgap fibre having a cladding made of alternate high and low index layer is presented. Singlemode propagation has been experimentally observed and successfully compared with the theory. This new kind of fibre exhibits zero chromatic dispersion shifted towards wavelengths as short as 1 µm.Keywords
