Abstract
M. balnei was identified as the cause of an outbreak of "swimming pool granuloma" in Colorado, and it was isolated from 17 of 24 biopsy specimens. The methods for the isolation and identification of this bacterium are described and evaluated. The histopathology of the lesions and its diagnostic significance are discussed. Keywords
