Abstract
Expressions for the self-energy of an electron and the physical pair-propagator for an excited electron plus hole in a degenerate electron gas at high density are obtained through the formulation of an equivalent Hamiltonian for the problem. These expressions are identical to those obtained by Quinn and Ferrell. A derivation of the physical pair-propagator from ground state considerations is also given. Keywords
