Abstract
Summary: A method is described for measuring the mean value of soil/implement friction over a given depth in the field. The results of experiments using this technique indicate that the simple laws of friction are applicable to soil/metal interfaces, provided that allowance is made for the existence of an adhesive component which is independent of the applied normal load. Keywords
