Source Levels for Deep Underwater Explosions

Abstract
Recent near-surface measurements are combined with previous data to provide spectral energy curves for underwater explosions at depths between 120 and 22 000 ft. Reduced spectra extrapolated back from the surface to 1O0 yd range from the burst (R−2 spreading assumed) can serve as “effective source levels,” for deep explosions. The variation of spectral gradient with burst depth is discussed briefly.
