Some Information-Processing Correlates Of Measures Of Intelligence

Abstract
Measures of verbal and non-verbal intelligence, both group and individually administered, were related to a set of laboratory-based measures of human information processing. Speeded non-verbal intelligence (WAIS Performance IQ) and verbal comprehension (group administered vocabulary tests) were most highly predictable. While high performance IQ was associated with greater right hemisphere efficiency in processing non-linguistic stimuli, those high on the verbal comprehension measures were better able to overcome linguistic conventions under experimental manipulation.
