The Relationship between Viewing Television and Student Achievement

Abstract
Televiewing habits of 100 elementary pupils were studied in relation to IQ, GPA, and achievement on standardized tests. Multiple and partial regression analyses revealed a slightly negative, nonsignificant relationship between hours televiewing and GPA. IQ was not related to hours of televiewing. The authors state that quantity and quality of televiewing have not changed in 20 years and are not a predictor of pupil achievement.
