Vapour pressure of selenium trioxide

Abstract
The vapour pressure of solid and liquid SeO3 was measured in the temperature range between 80°C and 120°C. Measurements are easily affected by the presence of residual SO3. The triple point is situated at 120.9°C and 5.5 mm Hg. The plot of log p against 1/T shows that the heat of vaporisation depends greatly on temperature. Sublimation pressure data can be explained in terms of a tetramer‐monomer dissociation in the gaseous phase. Calculated sublimation and dissociation enthalpies are 9.0 and 119 kcal/mole (SeO3)4.
