Abstract
The yellow nail syndrome is a rare condition consisting of slow-growing dystrophic nails and oedema, usually affecting the ankles, and probably due to defective lymphatic drainage. Its association with mild chronic pulmonary disease has been recognized. We describe a case initially complicated by a recurrent pleural effusion but, more importantly, by the development of bronchiectasis and thoracic empyema. Keywords
