Abstract
Early traumatic epilepsy should be recognized as a separate entity, defined as that occurring within the first week after injury. The incidence of early epilepsy in head-injured patients is about 5%. In these individuals there is an increased likelihood of late epilepsy. Even a mild single seizure indicates that the patient has suffered the kind of brain damage that predisposes to late-onset epilepsy. Keywords
