Abstract
The development of controlled rectifiers during the last few years has led to their application in electrical drives. When a dc motor, for instance, is controlled by such a regulated power supply, discontinuous current may flow in the armature; this phenomeon is related to the firing angle and the rotor counter-EMF. Discontinuous current is also possible in circuits incorporating thyratrons, magnetic amplifiers, etc. Keywords
