THE EXTERNAL ELASTIC LAYER OF THE CEREBRAL ARTERIES IN DIFFERENT AGE-GROUPS

Abstract
It is well-known that in the adult individual the cerebral arteries have no external elastic layer. As is shown in this paper such a layer is often found to be well developed in the new-born except at the site of the physiological intima cushions. In adults an external elastic layer has in several cases been seen over atheroma.
