Abstract
Intravenous cholangiography as an adjunct diagnostic procedure may be employed with little risk to the patient. In selected patients it is of great value. An experience with 213 patients upon whom intravenous cholangiography was attempted and who subsequently underwent operation upon the biliary tract is presented. The technic of obtaining intravenous cholangiograms is described and their interpretation is discussed. Although calculi and other abnormalities of the common duct account for the most frequent findings revealed by this measure, direct and indirect evidence in the diagnosis of acute cholecystitis, pancreatitis, cystic duct remnant and congenital anomalies may also be obtained. Keywords
