Abstract
A 40 Gbit/s single-channel soliton transmission experiment using periodic dispersion compensation is described. By applying dispersion management and optimum initial phase modulation, single-channel 40 Gbit/s transmission over 8600 km has been successfully demonstrated, for the first time, without any active transmission control in the transmission line.Keywords
