Abstract
The Chattian Beauce de Chauffour limestone (France), is represented by a series of microcyclothems averaging 30-35 cm in thickness. The rhythmic series includes lacustrine limestone facies--breccias, marls, coquina--and a zoned crust of alternating thin dark and light beds containing algal filaments. This type of sedimentation is the product of a relatively arid region, with intermittent wet and dry periods.
