Abstract
DURING the months of March and April, 1945, a southern army post experienced a short but explosive outbreak of anterior poliomyelitis. Within a period of twenty-five days, 18 patients suffering from poliomyelitis were admitted to the hospital. There were 3 other cases that were considered to be preparalytic in type, but since the diagnosis was questionable, they are omitted from this discussion.Anterior poliomyelitis is usually a disease of late summer and early fall.
