Eros and the Elderly: A Literary View

Abstract
Through their humane, sensitive portrayal of individual, subjective responses to the erotic impulse, contemporary writers of fiction are challenging the myths and conventions associated with sexual behavior in the elderly. In its concern with sexuality not as a physical drive but as a manifestation of underlying needs, desires, and tensions, literature is contributing meaningfully to our comprehension of the psychological and emotional experiences of old age.
