Atlas fracture

Abstract
The use of computerized tomography in [human] fractures of the upper cervical spine, not previously reported, is evident in this case of a fracture of the atlas. It provided a much better spatial understanding of the lesion than could come from conventional roentgenographic studies. Computerized tomography refines the imaging to the extent that details of slender bones such as the atlas can be distinguished and recorded.
