Comparison of Sieve Diameter and Stokes' Diameter Distributions for Pulverized Coal Particles

Abstract
Aerodynamic Stokes' size distributions and standard sieve size distributions for pulverized coal samples were determined and found to be different in general. Since combustion models of pulverized coal require size distribution data to predict the burning coal particle trajectories, the proper choice of size distribution is critical. This work indicates the Stokes' size distribution must be considered for modeling purposes.
