Abstract
U. urealyticum was isolated from midstream urine in 209 of 587 patients (36%) presenting with symptoms of urinary infection in a general practice setting. Suprapubic aspiration of urine in 101 of these patients revealed ureaplasma in 20 bladder specimens. Ureaplasma were the only microorganisms obtained in 7 patients; they were accompanied by Gardnerella vaginalis or Mycoplasma hominis in 10. Of the 20 patients with ureaplasmas in the bladder specimens, 19 (95%) also had pyuria in the bladder aspirate. This publication has 14 references indexed in Scilit:
