Abstract
The extraction of an ether- and water-soluble material from alfalfa that is attractive to the alfalfa weevil, Hypera postica (Gyllenhal) has been reported (Byrne and Steinhauer 1966). In the early stages of that work, it appeared that the weevil was attracted to water alone and that there was a relationship between the water requirements of the insect and the attractiveness of the extract. Experiments on the relationship between presence of water in the extract and its attractiveness to the insect are described. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
