Abstract
Precise definitions of coincidence-detection probability and false-alarm ratio are given and their relations explained. The dependence of the false-alarm ratio expression upon certain formulas of Rice pertaining to zero crossings is noted. A pair of simultaneous nonlinear equations is derived which determine optimal thresholds exactly for Gaussian noise and approximately for small signals. Illustrative numerical solutions are displayed. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
