Abstract
In cultures of the large milkweed bug (Oncopeltus fasciatus Dall. a peculiar pathology occurs sporadically. The cause and method of transmission are not known. It characteristically strikes nymphs in about the fourth instar. Diarrhea, inactivity, and an apparent upset water metabolism are symptoms leading to fatal results. No casual organism or single environmental factor has definitely been associated with the ailment, and all attempts to infect healthy bugs have failed. Surviving bugs in an affected culture reproduce healthy offspring. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
