Abstract
Chromosome analyses were made of three species of marsupial (Macropus major, Macropus rufus and Potorous tridactylis) using c-metaphase cells from either peripheral blood cultures or, in one case, bone marrow. The chromosomes were analysed using parameters previously suggested. In species with relatively short chromosomes, Z and Θ errors for these chromosomes are larger. It was found that the long arm of chromosome No. 1 in M. major, and both arms of chromosome No. 1 in M. rufus, contract at a different rate during metaphase than do the other autosomes in these species.
