Abstract
Conductance data for slightly associated electrolyte solutions can be dealt with by arbitrarily setting the association constant equal to zero or by arbitrarily fixing the value of the distance of closest approach of free ions. Both procedures are critically assessed. The first procedure is found inconsistent; the second one allows the calculation of the thermodynamic properties of the solutions, hence it seems the more fruitful procedure.
