Abstract
Somatic cell fusion in a Turtox isolate, or strain, of Physarum polycephalum is under control of several gene loci. With reference to these loci, fusion occurs betweeen any two plasmodia which are phenotypically identical. This agrees with earlier reports on Didymium indis, but is not in accord with the explanation offered for P. polycephalum by some other workers in another laboratory. Keywords
