Abstract
The experimental work of this paper shows that the penetration of a mercerizing lye into a cotton yarn can be described as a function of the viscosity of the alkali solution, the degree of swelling of the fibre obtained when mercerizing the single fibre, the time of treatment and the tension applied during the mercerizing treatment. Keywords
