Abstract
The paper reviews the properties of conventional scintillator crystals. For alkali halides (CsI:Tl) a marked relationship exists between luminescence properties and crystal growth parameters (starting material, growing method, melting atmosphere, annealing). The properties of intrinsic scintillator crystals (Bi4Ge3O12, CdWO4, ZnWO4) are mainly influenced by the purity of the starting material. Keywords
