Abstract
Iron absorption has been estimated from the ratio of radioactive iron and a non‐absorbed radioactive marker appearing in a single specimen of faeces after admin istering the radionuclides together with a standard meal. In a number of patients having widely differing iron absorptions the results agreed with values of iron absorption measured by whole‐body counting. This means that it is possible to measure iron absorption by a single stool collection made within 1 or 2 days of giving the radionuclides.
